Successful NLOS-T Slug Test

May 9, 2008

May 9 marked another significant milestone for the Non-Line of Sight - Transport (NLOS-T) concept demonstration program and for Digital Fusion as a company with the successful NLOS-T "Slug Test" on Test Area 1 at Redstone Arsenal. This test was an un-guided, ballistic flight test consisting of the current NLOS-T airframe and solid rocket booster fired from a modified NLOS-LS launch canister. The tail fins successfully deployed upon exiting the canister as a test of the folding and retention mechanisms and the flight computer and navigation systems both generated commands and recorded test data. The primary test objectives were acheived. The test verified that the round could be successfully launched from the canister, the boost motor functioned as designed and environmental and performance data was collected during the test flight. Digital Fusion continues to be very excited about the future of the NLOS-T program.
